My Travel Journal

"There isn't much I haven't shared with you along the road and through it all there'd always be tomorrow's episode" - Elton John

I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 45 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

2016 Q5 4NR Day 06 : Phnom Penh Killing Fields

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle…” - Napoleon Hill

(Victims of the Pot Pot Khmer Rouge Regime)

Day 06: Friday, 02 Dec 2016
Route: Phnom Penh Killing Fields Tour
Hotel: Khmeroyal Hotel

We shared a plate of prawn fried rice for breakfast at Warung Bali.

Today we rented a tuk-tuk for USD20 for a day-tour to some of the attractions in Phnom Penh. Our first visit was to the Cambodian Killing Fields. There are a number of sites where more than a million people were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime.

We visited the famous site at the Choeung Ek Genocide Center, a former orchard and mass grave of the Khmer Rouge victims. We spent an hour in this memorial site. Next we visited the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum, a former high school which was used as the notorious security prison during the Pol Pot Khmer Rouge regime.

We went to two markets, the Russian Market and the Thom Thmey Grand Market where we bought t-shirts and shawls for souvenirs.

The tuk-tuk sent us back to Warung Bali where we had a late lunch before we walked back to the hotel to rest.
